SMS Policy
Last updated: 12 June 2026
This SMS Policy explains how text messaging works with Memencal — who receives messages, how consent and opt-out work, and what it costs. It applies to the businesses that use Memencal and to the people who receive reminders.
1. What messages we send
Memencal sends SMS appointment reminders on behalf of its customers — the businesses that use the service. The messages go to the people those businesses have meetings or appointments booked with, shortly before each appointment. Reminders are transactional: they confirm an existing booking and never contain marketing.
Each message identifies the business it relates to, so the recipient knows exactly who the reminder is from.
2. Consent (for businesses using Memencal)
If you are a business using Memencal, you must obtain a recipient’s consent before enrolling them in reminders. You should ask for and record that consent at the moment of booking — for example when a client books an appointment, gives you their number, or signs up for your service.
You can use a consent wording such as:
“I agree to receive SMS appointment reminders from [your business name] at the mobile number I provided, sent via Memencal. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time.”
Keep a record of when and how each recipient consented. You are responsible for ensuring you have this consent before adding anyone; Memencal sends reminders on your instruction and relies on you having obtained it.
3. Opting out
A recipient can stop receiving reminders at any time by replying STOP to any message. We process opt-outs automatically: once someone opts out, we stop sending them reminders and businesses cannot re-enroll that number unless the person opts back in.
4. Message frequency and fees
Recipients receive a reminder only when they have an upcoming appointment, typically shortly before it. There is no fixed number of messages — frequency depends on how often an appointment is booked.
Memencal does not charge recipients to receive reminders, but standard message and data rates from the recipient’s mobile carrier may apply.
5. Help and contact
If a recipient has a question about a reminder, they can reply to the message or contact the business named in it. For any issue with the messaging service itself, contact us at [email protected] .
6. Privacy
Phone numbers and delivery information are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Recipient phone numbers are used only to deliver reminders and to honour opt-outs, and are never sold.
